GNAS FIELD ARCHERY UK
  Home Previous Page
Due to FITA introducing the six ring scoring for use from 1st April 2008 the Field Committee have decided the following amendments will operate for 2008:

World Team Selection
Having considered the options, the Field Committee has decided that selection for WFAC 2008 will remain as published. All scores shot after the change to X=6 will be revised to the old scoring system and entered on the selection tables as normal. For example, if an archer has scored 380 with 24 sixes his/her score will be adjusted to 356.

Classification
It is clear that existing classification scores cannot be used for tournaments from 1st April 2008. However, changes to the classifications require changes to the Shooting Administrative Procedures, which must be referred to the Operations Committee and published in Archery UK to become effective on 1st September 2008. For guidance, the Field Committee's recommendations for new score levels and criteria will be published as soon as possible on the GNAS Field Website and, subject to Ops. Committee approval, will be used for classification in 2008. No applications for Master and Grand Master Bowman awards should be submitted until September.

Records
All FITA round records will remain as published. Existing records, if exceeded, will be replaced by the Field Committee with the highest scores from all R.S. shoots between 1st April and the final selection tournament for WFAC 2008 (Overton). Archers and organisers should not make record applications for any scores shot in the period. For all R.S. tournaments after Overton, normal record application procedures will apply.

Top Ten and Squad selection 2008
Selection procedure for Top Ten 2008 will use the points system (finishing positions in each tournament) used in previous years. The Great Britain Field Archery Squad for 2008/9 will be selected on the basis of an archer's best five scores shot in the 2008 season in R.S. shoots in G.B. & N.I.. Scores from the W.F.A.C. will also be considered, as will scores from the '5 Nations' tournament and National Championships shot to Arrowhead standards in other European countries. The onus will be on archers to provide results sheets from tournaments outside the British Isles. Commitment to the sport and match temperament will also be considered. Prospective Squad members should be aware that the Field Committee offers Squad places on the understanding that the selected archers will attend all Squad meetings, unless specifically excused.

Arrowhead scores
Draft proposals have been passed to FITA with a decision expected at the beginning of February. As the time scale has been short together with lack of result sheets showing Xs, the resulting Arrowhead scores will be reviewed after a year.

Result sheets
Due to the failure of some Tournament Organisers to provide important information on result sheets, the Field Committee require the following to be shown on result sheets: Name of shoot, venue, date, weather conditions, round(s) shot, organiser's name and contact details. Results will be arranged by discipline and gender, with the age group of archers, colour of peg shot, each day's score including 6s+5s and 6s and totals including 6s+5s and 6s. (up to 30th March retain Xs). A sample sheet can be found here(excel). Please look at it and consider whether your result sheet conforms. Organisers failing to produce the required information may not be granted Record Status for subsequent tournaments.

Score sheets
Sample score sheets using 6s can be found here(excel) and here(word)
